Wicked Pearl-Flakes are water-based effect paints containing reflective pearl flakes suspended in a transparent base. They create sparkling, shimmering and colour-shifting effects for custom graphics, models, artwork, automotive projects and more.
What Are Pearl-Flake Paints?
Unlike standard pearl or metallic paints, Pearl-Flakes are designed primarily to add a reflective effect over the colour underneath. Because the base is transparent, light passes through the paint and interacts with the pearl particles to create added depth and sparkle.
Wicked Pearl-Flakes are traditionally applied over a black or dark base, which makes the reflective effect stand out. However, they can also be applied over colour-matched bases or mixed with other Createx colours to create custom effects.
The range includes Hot Rod Sparkle, Cosmic Sparkle, Hi-Lite Interference and Flair effects. Hot Rod Sparkle uses larger flakes for a coarser effect, while Cosmic Sparkle produces a finer and more uniform finish. Hi-Lite colours create a subtle pearlescent glow, while Flair colours produce dramatic colour-shifting effects.
For improved flake orientation, Createx recommends mixing Pearl-Flakes 1:1 with 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear, then reducing as required with 4011 Reducer.
Finish with a suitable gloss clear coat to bring out the full depth and brilliance of the pearl effect.
