When airbrushing, some paints are ready to use with any nozzle size right out of the bottle. However, other brands might need thinning to spray effectively through smaller nozzle sizes. Mixing your paint with the correct thinner or reducer will not only reduce the paint’s consistency but also help to reduce the pigment size, ensuring a smoother flow and preventing clogs.
We strongly recommend only using the airbrush thinner or reducer specifically designed for the brand of paints you are using to ensure optimal performance and avoid compatibility issues.
Createx Colors Reducers
Createx Colors offers specific reducers to optimize their paints for airbrushing:
- Createx 4011 Reducer: This general-purpose reducer is designed to thin Createx paints for improved flow and atomization. It’s a great choice for most applications, allowing for finer detail and smoother coverage.
- Createx 4021 Reducer: This is a specialized reducer, often referred to as “Superfine Reducer,” used for extreme fine-line detail and for thinning paints to a very low viscosity.
MIG Jimenez Ammo ATOM Thinners
ATOM Thinners are designed to reduce the consistency of ATOM colours for airbrush use. For best results, we recommend a thinning ratio of 30-50%, depending on your airbrush’s nozzle size.
Vallejo Airbrush Thinners
- Vallejo Airbrush Thinner (71.161): This versatile thinner effectively dilutes most Vallejo paints without compromising adhesion, resistance, or consistency. It’s crucial for thinning Vallejo Model Color, Panzer Aces, and Game Colors for airbrush use, aiming for a milky consistency.
- For airbrush colors: Dilute by adding a maximum of 25% of Thinner.
- For brush-on colors: Dilute by adding a maximum of 50% of Thinner.
- Vallejo Premium Color Airbrush Reducer: This specialized formula is dedicated to thinning Vallejo Premium Colors, effectively reducing their pigment size for use with smaller nozzle sizes.
